Please follow the steps below to complete this assignment:

Step 1: Choose one resource from the categories below that you would like to explore. (It can be from any category, ideally one you feel could support an area where you’d like to grow.)

Step 2: Complete the activity connected to that resource.

Step 3: Write a two-paragraph reflection that addresses all of the following: A.  Describe the resource. Explain where it’s located, its purpose, and how it can be accessed.

B. How can this resource help you succeed? Discuss the benefits it offers, the skills it supports, and how it connects to your goals.

C. Identify one specific, measurable goal you will set based on engaging with this resource. Make sure the goal is clear and trackable.

D. Reflect on what you think will happen if you work toward this goal. Consider possible outcomes, improvements, or changes you might experience.

Categories:

Academic Success (engage with 1 resource):

  • Academic Advisement Centers: Visit an academic advisement center (preferably the one connected to your major or an area of interest). Ask for a brief orientation of what they would like you to know about the center’s services. Some centers will ask you to schedule an appointment with an advisor, others will provide you another form of orientation.
  • Academic Skills: Watch any of the following videos and complete the accompanying worksheet, pick an area where you may currently struggle or an area you would like to learn more about.

  • Major Fair (Only in Fall): The campus majors fair is in the WSC Ballroom and Garden Court (9:30am-3:30pm).
  • Study or TA Lab: Pick a class you are enrolled in that you find challenging and attend a TA or Study Lab. Engage by asking questions and actively seeking the help you need.
  • Office hours: Pick a class you are enrolled in and go to the TA or professor’s office hours. Be prepared with questions or challenges that the TA or professor can help you with or just ask them about what happens during office hours.
  • Engage with an additional academic success resource shared with you through your instructor from the UNIV 101 office.

  • Silver Cloud: https://caps.byu.edu/silvercloud-online-self-help . Silver Cloud is a program that helps students work through weekly activities with the support of trained clinicians who review progress and offer encouragement. To enroll or ask questions about Silver Cloud, email your name, which program you are interested in (Anxiety, Body Image, Depression, or Stress), and whether or not you are a full-time BYU student to: silvercloud@byu.edu .
  • Attend one of the Counseling and Psychological Services workshops: https://caps.byu.edu/workshops
  • Visit the CAPS Stress Management and Biofeedback website at https://caps.byu.edu/biofeedback . Do one of the breathing activities, listen to one of the relaxation recordings, do one of the guided meditations on the linked YouTube channel, or watch Kelly McGonigal’s TED Talk.
  • WellTrack Boost: WellTrack Boost is a self-help app that can help you learn to relax, understand your thoughts and feelings, and learn to think in healthier ways. To get started with the app, go to https://byu.welltrack.com/ . Download the WellTrack mobile app and sign up with your netID to explore the app. Find one activity in the app that could be helpful for you (check under the “Tools” tab)
  • Sign up to join the Body Project through Women’s Services: https://wsr.byu.edu/leadership-mentorship-volunteer-opportunities
  • Attend a QPR (Question, Persuade, Refer) training through CAPS for those interested in suicide prevention: https://caps.byu.edu/training-on-helping-with-suicidal-concerns
