Assignment 4

Using the StarCCM+ documentation and various examples, set up and run your own unique simulation. Be creative. Compare to experimental data. Here are some ideas:

• TNF Workshop jet flame
• Ethylene wall fire
• FDS validation cases
  • See the FDS Validation Guide
  • FM burner experiments
  • Sandia methane burner
• As the class progresses, we may revisit CFD cases.
  • Things to consider: wind/velocity, grid resolution, model specification, radiation, soot, turbulence model, RANS versus LES.
